It operates through three segments: Solar, Life Science, and Semiconductor. The company offers solutions for crystalline solar cells, including heterojunction technology and TopCON, as well as thin-film technologies based on copper-indium-gallium-selenide and cadmium telluride; system concepts to produce tandem solar cells; and supplies production lines for the manufacture of solar cells and solar modules. It also provides vacuum coating systems for surface finishing, as well as wet chemical cleaning and coating systems; MEDLINE production systems for medical technology applications, such as manufacture of contact lenses; and specialized production lines comprising DECOLINE II, POLYCOATER inline vacuum cathode sputtering system, and PAINTLINE lacquering system. In addition, the company offers advanced deposition systems for various applications, such as manufacture of magnetoresistive random access memory, thin film read/write heads, sensors, inductors, micro-LEDs, and other components in semiconductor technology; and TIMARIS modular system platform which enables deposition of ultra thin layers and processing of sensitive materials for specific applications. Further, it provides turnkey solutions. The company serves photovoltaics, semiconductor, medical technology, packaging, glass/automotive, and battery and hydrogen markets. The company was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Kahl am Main, Germany.
