A semiconductor shortage is pinching some of the world’s biggest auto manufacturers. Officials at Volkswagen, Ford, Fiat Chrysler, Suzuki Motor Corp, Toyota, Daimler, Nissan, Honda & Subaru all say they have been hit by the shortage and forced to delay production of some models in order to keep other factories running. Industry officials say semiconductor companies diverted production to consumer electronics during the worst of the COVID-19 slowdown in auto sales last spring. Global automakers were forced to close plants to prevent the spread of the virus. When automakers recovered, there weren’t enough chips. The auto industry is using more semiconductors than ever before while producing new vehicles with electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver assist, navigation and hybrid electric systems. Global automotive chip market size to reach $56.24B by 2025 w/ a CAGR of 10.7% $TSM $TXN $NXP $IFNNY $MCHP

Sunday Watchlist: $MCHP (Microchip Technology) Working to put in a very nice rounding consolidation over the past week or so. The price action looks like it may want to retest its highs. I will be watching this one extremely closely for an entry position this week. $TTD (Trade Desk) Held its 50 day moving average last week. I will be watching this one for a possible bounce to start the new trading week. Trade Desk has been a strong stock and a pullback could be very health. Watching this one for a quick scalp trade. $PYPL (PayPal) My #1 stock pick for the new year. Already made decent profit so far on this trade, but had a slight pullback last week, which could be a decent spot to average up. I will be watching this one to confirm some short term support.
